CEO of “Promprylad” Yuriy Fylyuk is among the hundred top leaders of Ukraine according to the version of “Ukrainska Pravda”

Ukrainska Pravda, for the first time in its 23-year history, will reveal its rating list of top leaders – a selection of 100 remarkable Ukrainians who have made the most significant contribution to Ukraine’s independence and future. A jury consisting of Ukrainska Pravda journalists and experts determined the list. The rating included the following categories: Governance, Society, War, Business, Sport and Culture.

The entrepreneur, public figure, founder and CEO of the “Promprylad” project, Yuriy Fylyuk, entered the “Business” category.

The evaluation of these participants was based on the following criteria: contribution to Ukraine’s victory and development of its statehood; impact on social and political processes; leadership; moral integrity.

Among the selected Ukrainians are investors and friends of the Promprylad: Vyacheslav Klymov and Volodymyr Popereshnyuk are co-owners of the Nova Poshta company, Igor Liski is the founder and chairman of the supervisory board of EFI Group, and Oleksandr Kosovan is the CEO of MacPaw, the largest investor of Promprylad.
We sincerely congratulate everyone and thank you for your personal contribution to the victory of Ukraine.

Promprylad’s team participated in the Rebuild Ukraine Business Conference in Toronto, the business event of the year dedicated to the economic recovery of Ukraine

For two days, business and non-governmental organization leaders, government officials, and civil society representatives from both countries shared their experiences. They presented successful government and investment projects that contribute to the modernization of Ukraine.

Creating an innovative environment for the development of the ecosystem of Ukrainian entrepreneurs and NGOs is one of the critical goals of the Ivano-Frankivsk-based impact platform Promprylad, whose CEO Yuriy Fylyuk was one of the speakers at the discussion panel “Modernization of Infrastructure and Real Estate in Ukraine.”

This year’s program featured the Ukraine by Design Tech theme, which showcased the achievements of the Ukrainian tech ecosystem. This is the second Rebuild Ukraine Business Conference, organized with the assistance of the Canada Ukraine Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Business Council of Canada, the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada, Embassy of Canada to Ukraine | Ambassade du Canada en Ukraine, Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, CEO Club Ukraine, Ukrainian Startup Fund and UkraineInvest – Ukraine Investment Promotion Office.

For our team, participation in such international events is primarily an opportunity to demonstrate the resilience of Ukrainian society and establish effective partnerships. In particular, following last year’s meeting, Promprylad became a member of the Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce.

Our goal today is to keep the world focused on supporting Ukraine, particularly by improving Ukrainian-Canadian business and investment relations.

The Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, Natalka Cmoc, visited Promprylad

During the visit to the innovation center in Ivano-Frankivsk, the delegation met with the Promprylad Foundation team and residents of the pilot project, including the METALAB urban space development platform, FRAMIORE sustainable clothing brand, and the Teple Misto platform.

It is especially valuable for us that the Promprylad Innovation Center was one of the places the Ambassador visited during her first visit to Ivano-Frankivsk. Our team also discussed with the delegation the possibilities of establishing cooperation and sharing experiences with similar ecosystems in Canada.
We thank Ms. Ambassador for her visit and support of Promprylad’s initiatives.

The First Lady of Ukraine visited the Promprylad.Renovation innovation center

During the visit, Olena Zelenska met with the Promprylad team and talked to the residents of the innovation center. “Both local residents and IDPs have found work and self-realization here; they work, create, meet, and spend time here. By changing itself, the space changes the whole city, and even on a national scale, this rethinking of the plant is a unique example,” 一 said Olena Zelenska.

The First Lady visited the Parasolka Makerspace, bringing engineers, designers, scientists, makers, and artists together to create prototypes and new products. She had a special meeting with the residents of the 3D printing studio, who are developing prosthetics. She talked to the founder of the women’s clothing brand FRAMIORE, Natalia Naida, whose team has been meeting the needs of the military since the beginning of the full-scale war: they produce sleeping bags, fireproof uniforms for tactical and army aviation and adaptive clothing for wounded soldiers.

Artists Vitaliy Grekh and Yarema Stetsyk spoke inspiringly about art and its importance in highlighting Ukrainian realities. And the residents of the Roboclub shared with the First Lady the successes of young 2D designers and programmers.

The First Lady also visited the office of the Investment Policy Department of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council. She talked to its director, Ihor Popadyuk, about creating a balance in the triangle – business, administration, civil society, and the experience of practical cooperation with the Promprylad team.

Olena Zelenska also visited the city reading room “Chytai,” created by the Teple Misto platform. The delegation noted the unique atmosphere of the space, its content with quality literature, and the importance of the location for the city and guests in promoting reading.

Together with the project’s CEO, Yuriy Fylyuk, and Director of the Promprylad Foundation, Liudmyla Kryzhanovska, the First Lady learned about the possibility of replicating the experience of the Promprylad Innovation Center at other post-industrial sites.

“There is a term ‘inclusive economy,” and Promprylad.Renovation is just such an example – when the old is filled with new meaning and comes to life, the destroyed is rebuilt even better, the interests of all are considered and combined, and development is accessible to all. This is one of the principles by which the whole country should be rebuilt,” said Olena Zelenska.

The Promprylad team is grateful for the trust shown by the First Lady’s. For us, it is important to continue to contribute to positive changes not only in the city but also in the country.

Antidepressants from Yurko: Sewing adaptive clothing for injured soldiers in Frankivsk

The Bukvica workshop in Ivano-Frankivsk, together with the Framiore team, the Stetsyk family, and the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Clinical Hospital, launched a joint project named Antidepressants from Yurko. For every T-shirt sold, one set of “adaptive clothing” is made for injured soldiers undergoing treatment at the Oblast Clinical Hospital and other rehabilitation centers in Ukraine. We would like to tell you about the deeper meaning of the project and the first results of the work.

Yurii Stetsyk, the son of Yarema and Nataliia Stetsyk, aged 23, stood up to defend Ukraine from the first days of the full-scale war. In his civilian life, he pursued art and music, organized festivals, and designed interiors with his father. Before the full-scale invasion, he worked at the Bukvica silk-screen printing workshop.

Yurko became one of the investors in the Promprylad.Renovation project, explaining his decision by saying that “Promprylad nourished him with very cool events, people, work, and opportunities for realization. And I wanted to be physically involved in the implementation of this project.”

In December 2022, Yurko went missing while carrying out a combat mission in Zaporizhzhia region. Since then, the young man’s family and friends have been dedicating charitable projects to him, one of which is Antidepressants from Yurko.

As part of the initiative, Bukvica produces designer T-shirts with Yurko’s portrait and a life-affirming quote taken from his notebook: “Люди вилазять із густішого” (“People emerge even from the thick of it”).

“This short phrase contains both the feeling of a black hole and the certainty that it is possible and necessary to get out of it. It’s exactly what you need when you don’t even see the point of looking for any sense. Because we all really need to know that people emerge even from the thick of it,” says Nataliia Stetsyk, Yurko’s mother.

There are two ways to buy Antidepressants from Yurko:

  • pre-order by filling out a form at:

https://forms.gle/L7WwKiazoPMQFYNU6

  • buy a T-shirt at Promprylad in the Framiore workshop (23 Ukrainskoi Peremohy Str., Building C)

In total, there are T-shirts in three designs, three sizes, and in four colors. Yurii Koreniuk, a friend of Yurko Stetsyk, created the layouts for the stencils. Together, they were members of the Triasovyna music band. Each print is unique; moreover, they glow in the dark under ultraviolet light.

The cost of one item is UAH 1,000. The international brand Framiore, which is a resident of Promprylad, uses the proceeds from the sale of the T-shirts to sew “adaptive clothing” for injured soldiers. These are T-shirts and shorts with Velcro and additional zippers that can be easily transformed to meet the needs of the soldiers during the rehabilitation period. For example, if an injured soldier is treated using an Ilizarov apparatus.

“Since the beginning of the war, almost 4,000 soldiers have been treated in our hospital. As of today, about two hundred military personnel are undergoing treatment. For many of them, our facility serves as a home for several months, as severe injuries require long-term treatment. Therefore, feeling comfortable and looking as decent as possible is a daily need for the military. And a great challenge.

We appreciate Bukvica’s offer of cooperation and it is heartening to see the growing number of people who respond to the needs of the institution and help the soldiers,” according to the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Clinical Hospital.

According to Bukvica, in the first week after the project’s launch, they managed to raise UAH 127k, of which UAH 47k were charitable contributions to the Monobank account. They also received the first orders from the Trauma and Burn Departments of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Clinical Hospital for 110 pieces of clothing. They will be sewn and delivered to the hospital next week.

If you’re not interested in a T-shirt, you can support the project at: https://send.monobank.ua/jar/oMBVrqq6d

Natalka Naida, Framiore’s founder, says that the company will continue to make dedicated clothes for injured soldiers as long as there is a need for that.

“Along with pre-orders for T-shirts, people write messages and well-wishes. We print out these letters and send them along with the clothes to the hospitals to the military. You can buy T-shirts at Framiore’s shop or pre-order them by choosing the size, color, and design.

Live, encourage others to live, and don’t forget: “People emerge even from the thick of it!”

It is interesting that Yurko’s grandfather and artist, Mykhailo Stetsyk, worked at the Promprylad plant in the 1970s. At the same time, he created the bas-relief Technical Progress in Prykarpattia (1978), which still adorns the wall of one of the plant’s buildings. In 2019, Yurko Stetsyk himself helped to reconstruct the bas-relief.

Maker Space: A Force Behind the Development of Innovation and Creative Industries at Promprylad

The Parasolka (“Umbrella”) open space is a creative environment for makers, craftsmen, carpenters, and designers, which was founded by Metalab, an urban laboratory as well as a partner and one of the residents of Promprylad.Renovation. The workshops are equipped with all the necessary tools and equipment, residents work in a shared workspace and periodically hold open design and prototyping events. Maker Space is a unique combination of industrial design, talent, and opportunities for makers and researchers to test their ideas. Here we present the ideas of the creative space through the personal stories of its residents.

One of the tenants of the space is Borys, the founder of Stoliari, a local workshop for the design and manufacture of wooden products. For over 4 years, his team has been successfully working on furniture creation, product design, and research on the use of new materials in furniture production. They accept individual orders and also deal with small-batch production. When the full-scale war started, Stoliari joined the rear.

“After the full-scale invasion, we suspended most of our projects, stopped commercial activity, and tried to be useful in the area where we had expertise. At the time, there were a lot of requests for metalworking, so we jumped into this field: we made dugout brackets, Czech hedgehogs of various sizes, and tire spikes. The most interesting thing we did was to convert a truck into an armored vehicle.

At any given moment, about 10 people could work in the space full time simultaneously. I thank them, and I thank the Save Ukraine Now Foundation, which helped with coordination, sourcing materials, and covering some of the costs.

An interesting carpentry project was the manufacturing of award stands for the Come Back Alive Foundation in cooperation with Metal Time. The Ukrainian team that took part in the Invictus Games presented them to European politicians and even members of the British royal family as a token of gratitude for their support and assistance.”

In the CO-HATY project which was initiated by the Metalab urban laboratory, the Stoliari team dealt with providing housing for IDPs by transforming old buildings into cozy and warm homes. In a similar project with Rubber City, Lviv-based urbanists, the team tackled the problem of storage. As a result, they created a functional module that can serve as a shelf, wardrobe, desk, clothes hanger, and even a partition to solve the problem of dividing the rooms into zones in IDPs’ homes.

Many products made by Stoliari are used by residents and guests of Promprylad, and the team has made partitions for the Business Support Center and Coworking. They divide the space into zones and reduce the noise level because they were made using special noise-absorbing panels.

“For me, Promprylad is about people. It’s a hub with many specialists in different fields, and it’s great to look for common ground for cooperation and joint projects. Everything is very interconnected here: I drink coffee at PromBar, which orders chairs from us, order a T-shirt with Stoliari logo from Sasha and Tania from Print Bar Studio; not to mention Metalab with whom we have been cooperating for many years. Promprylad is a big family that I have known for more than 4 years. These are cool people who surprise you, recharge you, and make you grow up along with them. You can work in any location, but it won’t give you the warmth that Promprylad does. That is why this is my choice.”

Another resident of Maker Space is Pavlo, the founder of Metal Time, which designs and manufactures metal structures and implements individual projects. More than two years ago, while looking for an opportunity and space for self-realization, he ended up at Promprylad and has since become an integral part of the community.

“From the first days of the full-scale invasion, all the residents stayed here. At first, we helped to equip the space for internally displaced persons, because there were so many people here. Later, there was a big demand for metalworking: we made defensive metal structures, reworked and improved the safety of cars for our guys.

Within the CO-HATY initiative, we manufactured metal shelving, and earlier this year, we developed outdoor furniture for dormitories. A large-scale and interesting project was the one from Cadus, a Berlin-based charity, in which we worked on converting a regular bus into an ambulance. As a result, we got a vehicle that can transport four seriously injured and up to 10 lightly injured people at the same time. The bus is equipped with all the necessary means for first aid, and there are seats for paramedics.”

Together with their friends from Stoliari, the Metal Time team fulfilled an order from the Come Back Alive Foundation: making team coins for the Ukrainian national team at the Invictus Games. They also made pins for the foundation – badges that can be seen on the jackets of their employees.

“For me, Promprylad is first and foremost about people: friends and colleagues. This is a family. In terms of location, you can have production anywhere, but the community where you can get advice, mutual assistance, people with a similar vector of vision who help and support you – they are here.”

In the future, Maker Space at Promprylad will be in line with the concept of technology democratization, within which people with different ideas and experiences get access to educational opportunities and technical knowledge. Here, they will be able to test their own designs and products before launching mass production. To use the workshop or laboratory, a few training sessions and basic safety awareness will be enough.

“We are currently investing predominantly in collaboration and synergy,” says Anna Pashynska, co-founder of Maker Space and curator of MetaLab, “because entrepreneurs, designers, and scientists often work separately and do not always understand how to work together. So we want these different directions to learn how to work together. Hopefully, we will inspire more and more people to be bolder and apply more and more innovations.”
